Noise pollution refers to the situation where unwanted or harmful sounds enter the environment and interfere with the activities or balance of humans or animals. Unlike other forms of pollution, noise pollution does not leave visible evidence and does not accumulate in the environment, but it may have a significant impact on physical health and quality of life.
The World Health Organization believes that any sound exceeding 65 decibels may pose a risk to health, and the average noise level in most urban areas has approached or exceeded this level. Long-term exposure to a noisy environment can lead to problems such as hearing loss, cardiovascular diseases, sleep disorders and cognitive decline.
